| ALB Magazine - Issue 4.2 “We’re cheaper than hiring an extra secretary, and our turnaround time is quicker than if you outsource work to India or the Philippines” Nicole Pavett, Digitype ALB Article Extract: "...Nicole Pavett is the owner of Digitype. She runs this company from her home in Cronulla, Sydney, and has 15 former legal secretaries on her books as part-time employees. “Our clients come from the legal and medicolegal field, and we offer transcription and dictation services in both analogue and digital formats,” Pavett says. In addition to providing general correspondence services, Digitype provides court and police transcripts, client statements and medico-legal reports. “A lot of our clients are small to medium sized firms that are looking to reduce their overheads and costs,” Pavett explains. “We’re cheaper than hiring an extra secretary, and our turnaround time is quicker than if you outsource work to India or the Philippines.” This is certainly a major selling point when it comes to gaining clients. Brett Vincent, the director of Vincent CCL, first employed the services of Digitype three years ago. “I’ve dramatically reduced my overheads and now operate a legal practice without the need [for] secretaries,” Vincent says. “This has been a dramatic step but one which has been highly beneficial financially to me. The electronic recording system is efficient, accurate and highly cost effective.” Your most important asset is people. An important component of Digitype’s success is employing the right people. “We only employ people who have English as a first language,
who come from a legal background and reach minimum typing requirements,”
she says. “That ensures the integrity of our work and the quality
of our reputation over the long term.” |
